Her empathy and ability to explain exactly what was going on gave us comfort.
Our family encountered the most compassionate moment from our father's nurse. Our family received some pretty terrible news that would change our lives forever. We sat in that CSICU room for hours as one doctor after another came in, explaining what his prognosis was, how it would affect him moving forward, and when one team member left, another one would come in. We had many questions, lots of emotions and blurred thoughts.
JJ was our father's nurse, and she was a true angel. We truly believe it takes a special person to be a CSICU nurse, however JJ went above and beyond her call of duty. She sat in the room with us and explained everything in detail so we could understand it after each care team member left. This was not just done on one shift; she did this every time she cared for our father. Her empathy and ability to explain exactly what was going on gave us comfort.
JJ's professionalism was exquisite. She kindly answered every question we had (and more so the same question, just asked differently) and handled our father with the gentlest care. The few times our father spoke, he even joked with her. JJ showed our father love and a sense of peace during these difficult moments. Her touch to him when caring for him was angelic. Even though he never really got good news, she graciously cared for him, and we could sense his comfort when she was there with him. JJ's encouraging words to our father and us, and her peace within his room as she floated around caring for his needs, were unmatchable, and her empathy to our situation was remarkable.
There is not a time that JJ is not thought of when we think of our father being here. Our experience at CFV with JJ will never be forgotten. She is truly a remarkable nurse.
