Jessica's sense of humor makes unbearable days bearable. Jessica is always composed and organized. As a fellow nurse, I look up to Jessica. Jessica is the epitome of a great nurse leader.
I am delighted to nominate Jessica Leonard as a DAISY Nurse Leader. Jessica is everything you envision a nurse should be. Jessica is a great mix of old school and modern in her work ethic and persona. Since being employed on the 4th floor in 2018, I have worked with Jessica as a charge nurse/CNC. I observed her as she does not only compassion for her patients and their families but for her colleagues as well. She goes above and beyond to meet the needs of her patients and colleagues. Jessica is a critical thinker using evidence and analytical processes to solve issues and make clinical decisions.
Jessica does a fantastic job in responding to codes and taking charge until the MD arrives. Earlier this year a code stroke was called on my patient. In the absence of an MD, Jessica took charge and ensured the patient was adequately taken care of, ensuring the STAT CT and tele consult was done. Jessica also communicated with all the members of the health care team in a timely, concise manner, ensuring that patient safety was maintained and continuity of care.
Jessica is quick in responding to codes not only on our unit, but she also responds wherever it's called. Any time a nurse or tech on the floor needs assistance with a difficult situation or just to place an IV, Jessica is there without complaints and with a willingness to help. Jessica is strong but not rude, she is bold but not a bully, she stands for what's right and is willing to teach and learn. Jessica's sense of humor makes unbearable days bearable. Jessica is always composed and organized. As a fellow nurse, I look up to Jessica. Jessica is the epitome of a great nurse leader. I am honored to work with her.
