Jill celebrates the tiniest of victories that my daughter has, like pooping really well or being extubated successfully. Between those amazing gestures, Jill has made me feel less lonely in the windowless room by simply becoming a friend.
Jill has been my daughter’s primary nurse almost since day 1. My daughter was born at 23w6d. My daughter has been very blessed to have had no complicated issues, and the only true reason she’s in the NICU is because she’s early and little. I (mom) have been up to see my daughter every single day since her birth and spend almost the entire day with her every day. Jill being her primary, also spends most of the day with us. We are on day 66 and it is truly like a family member is taking care of my daughter instead of just someone on her care team. She has quickly become like family. She has been here for me when no one else truly understood or knew how to. From making sure I was okay when I needed a mental break to getting the camera all set up and placing a tiny ribbon bow on my daughter so she could be “present” for my father’s wedding one weekend. Jill celebrates the tiniest of victories that my daughter has, like pooping really well or being extubated successfully. Between those amazing gestures, Jill has made me feel less lonely in the windowless room by simply becoming a friend. Talking about our common interests and always just being a listening ear. On top of all of what she’s done for me, she has taken exceptional care of my daughter. She goes above and beyond for her, and I know that she truly cares for and loves my girl like she is her own baby. My daughter seems to always do so much better when her primary day nurse Jill is with her that day. Simply put, we cannot thank Jill enough for what she has done for our daughter.
