Jill was right by my side trying to wake me and talk to me so calmly and sweetly, all while everything that was going on around me was more or less udder chaos.
Jill was my labor and delivery nurse when I was having my first baby in 2021. She was so sweet and made jokes with me and my husband while in labor and made the whole experience comfortable and enjoyable. But after being moved into postpartum recovery I ended up hemorrhaging really bad and had two codes called to my room. When I came to the second time around after passing out, Jill was right by my side trying to wake me and talk to me so calmly and sweetly, all while everything that was going on around me was more or less udder chaos. I even cracked a joke to her when she said I was getting some color back in my face, that I have my blush on the counter she could put on me to have more color.
Once I was awake, she went over to my husband, who was holding our son, trapped in the corner of the room, watching everything happen. I could hear her reassuring him that I was okay and that I was awake and talking. She let him come over to see me and she stayed with me until I was stable and everyone was cleaning up and leaving. I have no idea if she was on those rapid code response teams or if she just heard my room number called over the intercom but I’m truly grateful for her kindness in such a scary time, and I want her to know that I still think about her to this day and wish I could thank her in person for everything she had done for me, my husband and our baby boy!
In such a traumatic situation, she was and still is one of the happiest memories I have of giving birth. I hope everyone can have a Jill during their labor journey because she definitely went above and beyond, and I love her so much for that! Thank you, Jill, and I’m sorry this is a few years late, but I had no idea about this award until recently, and as soon as I heard about it, I wanted to nominate you for it!
