I went in for what I thought would be a quick check-up due to some bleeding. I quickly found out that was not the case and that I was having a miscarriage at 18 weeks due to an incompetent cervix. I was admitted to the hospital and had to wait. During my time there that day and the next I had several nurses, but I had Jo Ellen Ames in the time leading up to the birth of my son and overnight.

Jo Ellen was so caring and explained everything with all my questioning of the day. Jo Ellen made me feel at ease during this time and helped me get through the day and night. It was one of the worst days of my life and I was glad to have Jo Ellen as my nurse. She and the midwife spent the time with me while I help my baby boy in the minutes leading up to his passing after birth. She was so gentle with my son as she dressed him and made sure that she asked me before doing anything. It made me feel like he was in the best hands before and after he passed away. She is one of the most compassionate nurses I have ever met and I hope someday I can return to the labor and delivery hospital for a good reason and see her again.
