This may be a simple action for Mrs. Manarin, but for her patient, it showed how caring she truly is. It is in the small things that we do for others that we are greatly remembered.
Mrs. Joanna Agnella Junsay Manarin, RN was born in Iloilo City but lives majority of her life in Cavite City. She graduated with a degree in Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Saint Paul University Manila in 2009. She subsequently passed the Nursing Licensure Examination that same year. She gained her first clinical experience at Victoriano Luna Medical Center as an RN resident, then at Air Force General Hospital as a nurse volunteer. She became part of the MDAABH Nursing Service in December 2013. Since then, she has exemplified what it is to be a professional who is dedicated to their work and has constantly displayed service above self.
She is always eager to go a step further than expected and has exerted a lot of effort to help the MDAABH Nursing Service improve and be at its finest. As a regular nurse of MDAABH, Mrs. Manarin RN has long shown a level of commitment towards the hospital and the whole 590th Air Base Group and the 15th Strike Wing that can serve as an inspiration to others. Mrs. Manarin’s nursing profession has given her excellent opportunities for vast clinical experiences and career advancement. An example of her commitment to duty is a family-centered approach whenever working on her plan of care for a particular patient. She has significantly worked on providing quality care to all 590th ABG and 15th Strike Wing personnel, their dependents, and authorized civilians. This has greatly contributed to the accomplishment of the unit’s mission, as well as the PAF Nursing Service Mission and Vision. She is a proactive nurse who has involved herself immensely in the prevention of further illnesses among her patients.
She has also demonstrated extraordinary nursing skills in the delivery of compassionate patient care, as evidenced whenever numerous patients and family members express their gratitude, such as writing a simple yet heart-touching DAISY Award nomination letter. On one occasion, Mrs. A, the mother of one of the patients Mrs. Manarin cared for, commended her compassion and dedication. She informed Subject Civilian Human Resource regarding their hospital experience: “Mrs. Manarin was very accommodating when we were admitted at MDAABH. She was very considerate when she had to approach us for something. We can ask questions if something is unclear, and she answers clearly”. This may be a simple action for Mrs. Manarin, but for her patient, it showed how caring she truly is. It is in the small things that we do for others that we are greatly remembered.
Another example of how memorable Mrs. Manarin is in the lives of her patients and their families can be seen in the attached feedback letter. The patient personally nominated her by sharing their experience with her. She wrote: “My husband and I came to MDAABH ER, with uncomfortable and emergency condition. Mrs. Manarin, RN, was the nurse who attended to me first. The doctor and Mrs. Manarin promptly and clearly asked, interviewed, assessed, observed my medical condition, and thoroughly gave me first aid due to hyperventilation. Mrs. Manarin was active and alert to the doctor’s instructions, especially on my immediate variety of tests at that time."
