Our daughter, C, spent the last 5 days of her life at Clark Memorial. Her nurse, Jo, is truly a compassionate, caring, and understanding nurse and we were blessed to have her care for C. She took the time to explain what was happening and made sure we understood. Amedysis, along with Clark Memorial Staff was coordinating the treatment plan for C's final days and Jo was there every hour to administer medication per orders. We did not have to ask for the meds to be administered. The day before C went to be with her Lord, Jo suggested that we leave the room to "get a bite to eat" while she repositioned C and tended to her hygiene. When we returned to the room, Jo had French-braided her hair and C looked beautiful and at peace. Jo was in the room when C took her last breath and she prayed with us as we held hands. As a retired Human Resources manager, I have had the opportunity to interview many healthcare providers. The candidates who were hired were the ones who demonstrated a sincere empathy for the pain and suffering of patients. I would have hired Jo on the spot, given the opportunity. She was able to feel compassion and provide comfort for C and our family on a professional and heartfelt level. She is an extraordinary nurse.
