Joanna had a patient that came from out of town on a business trip and only spoke Chinese. Joanna happened to speak Chinese and helped explain to the patient everything that was going on. The patient was confused and Joanna helped settle her down and comfort her. The patient was discharged and had nowhere to go. This being a few days before Christmas, finding arrangements for her was next to impossible. Joanna went above and beyond to figure things out. The patient was from LA and Joanna was able to get ahold of pt's daughter to set up a train ticket back home. She also helped with hotel accommodations along with giving her money for food out of her own pocket because she could not get a ticket home for 2 days. This was a very difficult situation for staff and patient, being from different cultures and languages but Joanna handled it well. She even stayed after hours to help and offered to drive the patient to the train station to make sure she made it. Joanna went above and beyond and demonstrated our mission.
