Joanne is a nurse training specialist for all of UCSF's ambulatory clinics, Joanne works with a multidisciplinary team of health care providers and clinic staff to provide education, training programs, and staff development. She ensures excellent quality of clinical care, thus driving UCSF's core values in promoting positive patient outcomes. Over the last three years, she has not only been my trainer, but also a mentor. She has a passion for excellence. She is a thoughtful, purposeful trainer who applies her own knowledge and skills to help staff learn. She has provided me with personal insight, guided me in moments of doubt, and has always driven me to think critically. Through her, I not only developed the necessary understanding of policies and procedures required to work with patients, but I have developed lifelong skills that will translate outside of the workplace. She has become someone that I trust and greatly respect, and embodies the standards expected for a DAISY Award Honoree.
Joanne plans, designs, and conducts training curriculums for each newly hired clinic staff. It is her responsibility that all staff within the ambulatory setting attain the proper knowledge required for best practice. She is detail oriented, thoughtful, and articulate. Even after full days of trainings, Joanne never rushes through. She ensures that each staff understands the skills and the purpose of the trainings; her goal has always been that of supporting the patients' best interest and safety. Her contribution to staff education and patient safety directly impacts the quality of care that all patients receive here at UCSF.
Highly regarded by her colleagues, Joanne is generous and attentive in her collaboration with others. She listens to the needs of the clinics and helps research evidence based best practices. She is a leader in curriculum development and in facilitating educational programs. Ever more so, she is a kind and generous human being devoted to education and the welfare of our patients. We are lucky to have her on our team.
Joanne possesses a wealth of experience, knowledge and expertise in her field, she has very strong leadership talents. She is passionate about nursing and about ensuring that all our patients receive the safest, highest quality care. This is clearly her priority. Joanne consistently exhibits the highest degree of professionalism. She is also a strong partner with management and other non-clinical roles, diligently working to reinforce proper training and demonstration of skills of clinical staff. Joanne is a highly effective trainer, clearly communicating expectations and providing feedback to staff. She is a wonderful mentor to staff in all roles. Throughout her hectic schedule, Joanne adeptly manages competing demands, remains organized, and extremely responsive. She is very gracious and generous with her time and receptive to any questions or requests for assistance. Joanne impacts the lives of patients and families each day by making certain any one caring for patients is fully trained and competent to do so. Her role is much more than simply meeting compliance standards. She is committed to quality patient care and to supporting professional growth and development of nursing staff.
