Jobic enhances his skills, knowledge, competency, and professionalism by maintaining certification and consistently demonstrating excellence through clinical expertise in numerous therapies. Jobic encourages our nurses to take the certification exam and supports them by giving them the review materials. He functions as a resource nurse and serves as a preceptor for 2 new graduate nurses. Jobic was chosen to serve as a mentor for the 25th new graduate residency cohort. He represented our hospital for several poster presentations. Jobic has been recognized several times for kindness, gentle, caring, and compassionate care.
One particular patient was very challenging to deal with (verbally abusive, handful and belligerent). Throughout it all Jobic kept the patient calm, and only ever treated him with the utmost respect and dignity. As his prognosis grew more acute and life-threatening, Jobic continued to provide him with quality and compassionate care. Jobic recognized the patient's concerns and often found the resolution for all of them. Jobic gave an information-filled report at the change of shift that never allowed the patient to feel in the dark about any aspect of the care.
Jobic is a patient's advocate, committed and dedicated to patient's quality of care, and promotes patient-centered care and family focus. As the UBPC chair, I witnessed Jobic reaching out to the team and all the leaders to do an intervention to decrease hospital-acquired infections with successful implementations showing improvement in our patients' outcomes. I also witnessed him informing the patients about their rights in a particular situation, making sure they have all the information necessary to make informed decisions, supporting them in the decisions and choices they make, and protecting and safeguarding their interests. Jobic consistently listens to his patients and family's wishes in developing an appropriate plan of care that maximizes patient's comfort and dignity.
We have a patient who stayed in our unit for about a month. The patient's family almost gave up, but Jobic never stopped giving them hope, reassuring them that everything that can be done is being done, and updating the patient's family that the patient's safety and comfort is the ultimate priority. Jobic follows up if the family needs more clarification, and answers family's questions and concern in a timely manner. He encourages the family in planning the care of their loved one and integrates them into a holistic plan of care. After the patient was discharged to rehabilitation, Jobic went to visit the patient and the family to support them during the patient's recovery process. Recently, the patient's wife updated us that her husband has recovered and the patient was able to attend his daughter's graduation. Jobic displays maturity and professionalism beyond his years, allowing his patients and their family members to feel at ease and confident that they will receive the best care possible.
