She guarded all of our hearts by meeting any staff who would approach the door, ensuring all who entered were sensitive to the situation. Jody was extremely professional, knowledgeable, calm, and empathetic while she explained the painful process.
Our daughter, C, and her husband M were due to deliver their firstborn baby boy. C carried their son M full term. When she and her husband arrived for a routine visit on Tuesday with her physician, baby M had a strong heartbeat. The decision was made to begin inducing labor for possible delivery within a few days. C would return the next day to start her journey into labor. During the visit on Wednesday, medical staff discovered an extreme tragedy with baby M. Over the past 24 hours, M’s little heart had stopped beating. C and M were sent back home that evening and were to report back Thursday to begin the labor process, knowing that the outcome would be delivering baby M without a heartbeat.
On Thursday, our family accompanied C and M to the hospital upon their request. From the moment we entered the hospital labor and delivery room, Jody created an atmosphere of love and support. Jody welcomed every one of us with gentleness and professionalism. She provided a welcoming space for each of us so that we could sit alongside C and M during this difficult time. She arranged for easy access to food and beverages with baskets of snacks and showed us the way to the small kitchenette in the area for larger food choices and to refill our water bottles. Jody delivered the highest level of care during C's labor and delivery of their baby boy, M. She not only adhered to the clinical needs of C during her labor and delivery, but she also exceeded the expectations of a skilled nurse by providing incredible emotional support that was so greatly needed. Jody was a rock for our ENTIRE family. She provided gentle direction to all of us. She ensured privacy when it was needed for C and M. Jody became like family in the three days we spent together.
Jody will forever have a place in our hearts. She provided exceptional care to all of us, especially C, M, and their baby angel, M. We thank the Lord for blessing us with Jody's presence. This is a journey that no one wishes for, but having Jody to provide care, advice, and resources was God sent.
