Joe was incredibly soft-spoken, but the concern and care he had for my father-in-law and the visiting family were incredible. He became a calm rock for us.
Joe was present in the ICU for 7 out of 8 days when my father-in-law was in the unit. Joe's close and special attention paid to my father-in-law was sincerely heartwarming, comforting, and humbling. Joe's patience in helping make sure we understood everything that was going on, helping break down what the doctors were saying to us about my father-in-law's condition, and just having normal conversations to distract us was more than I have experienced and could have expected at the hospital. Joe was incredibly soft-spoken, but the concern and care he had for my father-in-law and the visiting family were incredible. He became a calm rock for us when we visited and seeing him on the unit when we arrived made us breathe a sigh of relief knowing that Joe would be taking care of him for the day. If it wasn't for COVID, I would have given Joe a massive hug. His knowledge and care were on display throughout our entire stay in the ICU. Specifically, they were ready to move him out of the ICU but Joe was confident enough in his own ability, knowledge, and familiarity with him felt he wasn't ready to move out. Joe addressed concerns to the doctor who continued to keep him in the ICU. If it wasn't for Joe, my father-in-law might have had long-term effects from his short-term deterioration that day. Joe went above and beyond expectations!
