Saturday I was admitted to the hospital and placed on observation in the emergency room. My illness was serious but not as serious as three to four other individuals. I arrived at 9:00pm and was admitted around 7:00am. However throughout the night I had the pleasure and joy of watching a young man care for his patients and work with his peers non-stop and with incredible dedication and concentration.
Joel had a very difficult patient and he was able to calm him down and provide treatment. He also had a woman in isolation which he was taking care of and providing enough treatment to stabilize her. Joel was typing reports and consoling patients during the entire night. He was also able to check on me just about every thirty minutes or so. About 5:30am he began to scrub the floor which I thought was amazing. He emptied five or six patients from the room and I was the last one as I witnessed a very special 6 or 7 hours of work by a very special person.
