Being admitted into the hospital is never an easy thing; it’s downright scary. You come into the hospital to heal, and I feel that is exactly what Joel did. He healed my soul a lot more than I expected anyone could. I came onto the floor in the early morning, I had already been given a lot of meds in the ER so there really wasn’t a lot to do once I got up here other than to rest. This would be the first time I had stepped into the hospital since I lost my mother 2 months ago and my grandmother 2 months prior to that. When I woke up for my morning vitals, I was pleasantly greeted by Joel and immediately felt at ease, probably for the first time in weeks. Joel’s compassion for his patients is *REMARKABLE*. I knew he had other patients to attend to, but when he was here, I felt as though I was the only one on the floor. He never rushed me, answered all of my questions, and when I was explaining my family history, I embarrassingly got emotional; however, Joel did not hesitate to take my hand and listen to me and comfort me. Everyone here is amazing but Joel is *One Of A Kind* The whole day I had him as my nurse I felt safe and like he was treating a family member and I know that’s how he treats all of his patients. He is truly an amazing human being. My hope is that he is able to be recognized for everything previously stated, but also just for being an exceptional human in a world where we could use more Joels.
