She didn't just care for her physical needs; when she was feeling down, scared, or upset about something, Joey cared for her mental struggles, reassuring her that she was receiving the best possible care and attention.
My wife was admitted to Alta View Hospital to treat Acute Pancreatitis. Her pain level was at 10 for several days. After the first day, she was transferred to the ICU, where all her nurses were wonderful; but Nurse Joey was especially kind and showed true compassion to my wife. There are truly angels amongst us, and Nurse Joey is certainly one of them. While my wife was dealing with severe pain, nausea, diarrhea, and inability to sleep, Nurse Joey went above and beyond what she needed to do. She didn't just care for her physical needs; when she was feeling down, scared, or upset about something, Joey cared for her mental struggles, reassuring her that she was receiving the best possible care and attention. Nurse Joey would spend the extra time talking with her about her family, hold her hand when she was upset and crying and do all she could to cheer her up and give her hope that she could and would overcome pancreatitis. Truly, Nurse Joey is an angel working as a nurse. She holds a special and tender place in our hearts.
