You made me feel validated, heard, and not like I was just another number.
I was in the ER for about 5-6 hours. When John came onto shift with me, I was feeling my worst and kept pleading to be taken home because I felt ignored and hopeless. Here's what he did that changed my experience:
You brought everything I needed ASAP.
When I began to spiral and panic from stress, you grabbed my shoulders, adding compression that calmed my panic attack.
You convinced me to stay and not go home by telling me that you personally didn't want me to take a turn for the worst.
You tucked me into my blankets when I could not get warm for the life of me.
You ~gently~ re-swabbed me for COVID and hand-delivered it upstairs because my original test was lost.
You made me feel validated, heard, and not like I was just another number.
Thank you for convincing me to stay.
