I was admitted to the hospital for the birth of my first child. Shortly after I was moved from triage to Labor and Delivery, my husband and I were introduced to our nurse, Jolene. From the moment I met her, I was instantly put at ease. Her calm demeanor helped to diminish my anxieties about giving birth.
I was amazed by how in tune she was to my needs. She anticipated those needs often before I even needed to ask. From back rubs during contractions to always making sure I had fresh water (and my husband too!). The little things she did made all the difference.
One of the things that impressed me most about Jolene was that she stayed past the end of her shift to help with the birth of my daughter. I delivered duringshift change, but I never felt that Jolene was rushing to leave. She was constant encouragement while I pushed and was just as excited as we were when my daughter was born.
Jolene is an exceptional nurse. I will always remember her by name when I think back on my birth experience.
