It’s unfortunate for me to say that I am in the hospital a lot for pain and nausea control. I have had my fair share of good nurses, and I had my first experience with an exceptional nurse. Not only does Jonah have a positive bedside manner but her perky vibe she gives off is impossible not to catch. She makes it easy to talk to her, and she actively listens. With her bright personality, you can always tell she is always smiling even through her mask; you can just tell.

Beyond her being super nice and easy to talk to, I have never had a nurse advocate for me like she did today. I was/am so miserable with pain and nausea that when the hospital doctor changed my medication regime without even speaking with me first, I was distraught because I was already struggling in between doses. Jonah could see that I was not okay. She continued to send messages to the doctor, letting him know that I was not okay. Eventually, the doctor listened and changed the medication back to what it was originally. Jonah displayed professionalism as well as concern for me, her patient. I never had a nurse advocate so hard for me. It has renewed my faith in IU Health. Knowing that there are people like Jonah who are nurses who take care of me definitely eases some of that hospital anxiety that most humans experience when having to stay in the hospital. She will be the nurse I will always remember.
