For three months, my son spent most of that time in hospitals. We came in contact with many nurses during our stays, but Jordan Carry was so special that I just had to nominate her the DAISY Award.
It's difficult to isolate a single story or situation that sets Jordan apart from all the other wonderful nurses in Methodist Hospital. The reason is that every day that she was assigned as his nurse, he received exceptional, compassionate, and personalized care. Jordan treated our entire family with dignity and respect at all times. Tests, procedures, IV's and medications were all explained in terms we could understand. I spent a lot of days and nights in the hospital with my son, and she always was concerned about my well-being, as well as that of her patient. On one of the nights that my husband also stayed, he was trying to sleep in a regular chair. Without us asking, Jordan showed up with a comfortable recliner and blanket for him. Even simple acts of kindness mean so much to a family going through a tragedy.
My son's final few month were filled with pain, worry, fear, and disappointment. Jordan helped him feel as "normal" as one possibly could under the circumstance, and for that, I will always be grateful. Jordan was even able to put a smile on his face sometimes with her quick wit and sense of humor that matched his so well.
I had prayed to God for angels to comfort my son and my family. I feel my prayer was answered when Jordan came into our lives. She's a wonderful, knowledgeable nurse and all-around loving person. You should never, ever let her go!
