When the situation quickly became an emergency, she got close to my face, took up my field of vision so I could focus just on her, and spoke quietly and calmly. She reassured me and encouraged me while easing my fears. The way she communicated to me was so gentle and kind. It felt like I didn't have to carry the weight of this situation on my own. In that moment, and every moment after, she was no longer just my nurse. She became a friend and she will be the face I remember when I call on the memories of the staff during our time here. After we left the OR, she advocated for me and understood what I needed when I couldn't say much or anything at all. When I was transferred to the maternity wing, she visited and embraced me like a friend. Her kindness and compassion paired with her knowledge make her an absolutely Extraordinary Nurse and woman. I know I feel entirely blessed to have had her during this emotional time in my life.
