This experience was extremely hard for her and Josh made it so much better.
My grandfather passed away peacefully this morning at 5:30 am and his wonderful nurse Josh was with him. Josh was so incredibly kind, and compassionate and went above and beyond for my family. My grandmother is 83 and they were married for 65 years they were truly each other's soul mate and best friend. She also struggles with dementia and forgets things very quickly. This experience was extremely hard for her and Josh made it so much better. He answered any questions she had no matter how many times she wanted to ask the same ones, and he was very attentive and helped us gauge where my grandfather was in the dying process so we would know what to expect. He also never stopped talking to my grandfather even when he fell into an unresponsive state and that meant so much to us.
Josh always told him what he was doing for him and never stopped treating him with dignity despite the fact that he knew he would not respond to him. He also set up a snack and drink station for my family right outside of the room. My mother and grandmother hardly ever left the hospital since last Friday when everything started and he made sure they were well cared for and had a drink, a pillow, or anything they needed throughout the night. He also brought a second recliner into the room for them when we first arrived on the floor when he was moved from TCU; my mom had an awful migraine that night from the stress and he made sure she had a comfortable place to rest. This morning around 1 am we decided to take my grandmother home for a couple of hours to sleep as she was starting to become uncomfortable Josh made sure to call us right away when my grandfather started to pass as quickly as possible so we could get there.
Though we did not make it in time to be there for his passing, I know my grandfather was in the best hands possible with Josh and that he was comforted by him being by his side as he left. We could not have asked for a better nurse. Josh is amazing. He is such a blessing.
