Joy had a patient on unit 42 who was admitted with acute confusion. Patient had no recall of his name, where he was or any of his history. Joy spent her day talking to the man, reassuring him he was safe, and asking questions to help trigger his mind. This patient lived in a hotel. Joy ended up finding out this patient was a Veteran who had multiple health issues. She was able to contact one of his friends who also provided some information for us. With Joy's dedication, we were able to treat this man in timely fashion. Unfortunately, this patient passed away. Thanks to Joy's detective work, we had contact information for his estranged family and were able to notify the family that this patient had passed. Joy did not "pass the buck" to others, but took charge herself to help this man. Without Joy's help we would never have been able to help this man so quickly.
