During an exceptionally busy morning, I was in a surgery case that was moved up from the scheduled time to STAT. Although it was not a procedure Joy was familiar with, she never hesitated to assist in every way possible.

Her many years of OR experience enabled her to help me get my patient and the OR room ready promptly but safely. Joy stayed in the surgery suite until the procedure was well underway, assisting with many tasks that benefited everyone in the OR, most importantly the patient.

Joy has had a long, successful career in the OR and serves as a mentor to all staff, both new and experienced. And Joy is always enthusiastic and displays a sense of urgency that cannot be taught. Joy exemplifies all that the DAISY Award encompasses.
