Joy is one of the most fair and compassionate nurse leaders not only to our patients but to her employees. Joy is the most caring and thoughtful boss I have ever worked for, and she is the reason why I still work on this unit. Joy is the absolute best.  This shows in our department's excellent care of our patients and our overall retention rate. She makes her team feel appreciated and is always there if we need help, have questions, or just to be an ear. She is dedicated and affectionate to everyone she comes across. My first year as a registered nurse could not have been any smoother and I am lucky to have her in my corner. During the pandemic, Joy would check in on her staff to make sure we were okay mentally and is always there when her staff needs her support on the unit. When a difficult patient or family member’s attitude becomes too much of a challenge for the staff, Joy is always willing to go into the room and discuss the situation with them. Joy is a treasure to this unit, and I appreciate her tremendously. I am one of several employees that have worked for Joy at another hospital and have joined Moses Cone to work for her again. I drive 90 minutes and am NOT a travel nurse because Joy is a Manager, I am proud to work for. That says it all!
