Joyce has always been quick to participate in anything new to roll out for the department. She is great at training new staff and especially mentoring new charge nurses. Joyce is the best contact in our department for questions, and she advocates for patient and staff safety in every situation.
Joyce jumps in on any kind of process that needs improvement. For example, she has been part of developing and implementing the new BCG and gemcitabine protocols to deal with the BCG shortages. She pays attention to details. When there are changes in policies or procedures, Joyce is able to quickly pick out what is relevant for our department and act on it promptly to ensure our clinic stays current.
Joyce supports other nurses in more ways than any other nurse I know. She is a really good friend to all nurses. Anyone who works with her would call her not just a colleague, but a friend. You can tell she really cares about the people around her.
Joyce takes every single person as an individual, never just assuming things based on their diagnoses. She lets the patient tell their story first, being truly present with patients before giving them advice. I learned a lot from her about how to explain things to patients.
Joyce sets the standard for the positive dynamic at her clinic. The East Urology clinic gets a lot of compliments from patients. Patients like to be around Joyce and the rest of the team at that clinic.
