Judith Changwe recently helped care for my 89-year-old dad whilst he was in hospital with pneumonia. He sadly passed away, but we will not forget the compassion, care & dignity he received from Judy and the other staff on J08. My dad also had Parkinson's disease, and my mum was essentially his carer during the last year of his life. Judy was on duty the night my dad was admitted to J8 and immediately reassured my mum with her caring, personable, and pragmatic nature. My mum was able to stay with him throughout his hospital stay, which was an absolute blessing as he ultimately passed away very suddenly, and she would not have been there with him had she not been allowed to stay. He was in the hospital during the most recent junior doctors’ strike, and despite this, I believe he received good care. For example, Judy ensured that on one particular evening, there was no delay in his being put on oxygen when his sats dropped. Judy made my mum feel comfortable, listened to, and cared for alongside my dad, and we will always be grateful for this. She is a credit to the NHS & LTHFT.
