I recently observed an interaction between a very confused patient who was in the hallway and Judy. Judy spoke very softly and calmly to the patient, demonstrating her usual respectful and caring manner. She bent down to be at eye contact level with the patient and stroked her hand while talking. The patient calmed and smiled.

This is not an unusual practice for Judy. She is very compassionate with all patients she interacts with. She role models our values. She is an excellent clinician, staying up on current evidence based nursing research and practice changes. As I observed Judy in action once again, I knew I needed to nominate her for this prestigious award.
