Judy Bauer certainly does exemplify Compassion, Excellence, and Integrity. I was admitted to PVH for a bone marrow biopsy. I have never had this type of procedure before, so I had no idea what to expect. My nurse/anesthesiologist was Judy Bauer. She was very competent and knowledgeable when reviewing biopsy procedures and aftercare. She constructively informed me about thrombocytopenia and she printed downloaded information for my use. She reviewed my prescribed follow-up plan. There was a slight delay for my procedure as someone in the ER was bumped ahead of me for an emergency procedure. This delay was constructively used by Judy to provide additional verbal and printed documents regarding other items of interest, namely, diabetes and nutrition. I am on a daily dosage of 81-mg aspirin and I bruise easily. The technique is everything, as Judy was able to install the IV port into my left hand and only left a very slight bruise with no purple color. You could barely see the needle prick.
From the onset, Judy came across as a very caring person. My hair is long and kept getting in the way of the tubes and wires while I was positioned on my belly, and without asking, she loosely braided my hair for me. She has a fun personality, we laughed a lot. She made a dreary task a lot more tolerable. She processed my discharge and after she wheeled me to the curb for pickup, she continued her positive words of reassurance for the situation that I find myself in.
Judy comes across as a very hardÂÂworking conscientious nurse. Her patients are important to her. During the slight delay, she could have easily spent her time with the other nurses or on break. However, it was important to her that my care was personal and complete. When the doctor came to meet me to review my procedure, his words mirrored her earlier spoken words regarding my procedure. Without any miss-steps, she knew her clinical stuff. All in all, Judy scored an 'outstanding' and is deserving of recognition for her exemplary patient care. I truly appreciated her outstanding skills.
