I was in a lot of pain and lost a lot of blood, but Juli made sure not only I was safe and as comfortable as I could be in that situation, but also that my newborns were safe.
I came in Tuesday morning for a scheduled C-section for my twins. This was my first pregnancy. I also have a history of high blood pressure and a shunt. Juli was FANTASTIC from the moment we arrived to check in. She informed my husband and me of some of the risks that they would be on the lookout for after the C-section. She also made sure all the doctors and nurses I came in contact with knew my medical history.
After the delivery of my twins, Juli was extremely vigilant of not only me but also my twins. I ended up getting a postpartum hemorrhage (which is one of the risks she mentioned). I’m not a doctor, but I do believe that if Juli was not as vigilant with me as she was, the hemorrhage would have resulted in a hysterectomy for me. Juli noted the amount of blood I was losing from the very beginning and stayed on top of it and kept doctors updated. I was in a lot of pain and lost a lot of blood, but Juli made sure not only I was safe and as comfortable as I could be in that situation, but also that my newborns were safe.
All of the doctors, nurses, and nursing students were amazing, but Juli was the ringleader and from my perspective kept everyone focused! She went above and beyond for my family. I was transferred to a regular room at first, but then when they realized the amount of blood I was losing they sent me back in for emergency surgery. I was honestly terrified that I just had these 2 beautiful children after getting married to my amazing husband just over a year ago and I wouldn’t ever get to see them again. When I started going back towards the OR, Juli was still there! She stayed to help in the OR, and just to have a familiar face in such a scary situation was so nice.
I don’t think I would ever be able to put down in words exactly how thankful I am for Juli. I spent pretty much all day Wednesday with her as well and she was as fantastic as the day before even though I knew she had to be as exhausted. I would call the nurse line and she would literally pop her head in before I would even finish telling the nurse on the phone what I needed. She knew I was nervous about letting the 2nd balloon out, and didn’t mind at all to just reassure me that what I saw was the normal amount of blood that I should see.
After we were discharged my husband ran into her while picking up my prescriptions and some baby formula, he ran into Juli and she was still checking up on me! I know I’ve already said it, but I truly do not have the words for how much Juli helped me and how much of a difference I truly feel like she made in my outcome. Juli deserves ALL the awards possible in my opinion.
