My story with Julia Depa is not based on a single outstanding event, but years of information, guidance, support, and compassion for me and my family. My 27-year-old daughter was born with a rare syndrome. Her list of medical needs, physical challenges, mental deficits, and aggressive behaviors are a lot to handle. Add to that the battle against insurance companies, state and county agencies, the constant fight to gain and keep resources. It's enough to make even the strong feel defeated. That's why I count myself lucky to have Julia.
Julia knows my daughter well and her knowledge of nursing and medicine allows me to seek her opinion a lot, i.e; researching medications, recognize symptoms, side effects, and pain, working through behaviors, resolving feeding issues. etc. Julia recommends and oversees nurses, works out a specific care plan, resolves scheduling conflicts, and makes suggestions about my daughter's care based on her experience with other patients. She helps me find and research new programs, reads through pages of eligibility contracts and manuals; she doesn't care if I call her after hours. She knows when I'm exhausted and feeling overwhelmed. She's encouraging, helpful, and always smiling.
I depend on Julia more than I have a right to. I appreciate her more than I can say.
