Our dad was very special to us - and Julia became part of our lives during his hospitalization and final days. His wife stated, "I can shut my eyes and clearly see him lying in ICU. Witnessing his decline and eventual death is by far the most agonizing experience of my life. Julia loved us all and was a ray of warm sunshine in my broken heart. She was not afraid to feel the pain and cried with us. She is an amazing young woman".
Dad would have loved Julia just like we loved her! We will always be grateful for the gift of knowing her and the deep involvement in our lives as she cared for us and the man we all deeply loved and cherished! To thank Julia for her amazing care, we made a hand-crafted bookmark with some of the flowers from Dad's funeral. Each member of the family also has one and we plan to keep it in our Bibles marking Psalm 23, which was one of Dad's favorite Bible passages. We have asked Julia to do the same as it would be such an honor to share this memory with her. Everyone who cared for our dad was simply amazing, but Julia stood out amongst the rest.
To thank everyone - especially Julia - for the care our Dad received, a scholarship has been created at the College of Nursing. Through this, Dad's spirit can live on forever.
