The words "I can't" will never be spoken by her.
When it comes to partners in clinical education, I could not ask for anyone better than Julie DelCasino. Her smile and positive attitude are infectious. She has dedicated many years to Novant Health and our unit. She has vast knowledge related to our patient population and helps facilitate residency onboarding 3 times a year for our specialty. She takes great pride in knowing she is contributing to the safety and remarkable patient experience by properly educating these new nurses. They always have positive comments regarding her. She will help them troubleshoot and is very approachable for their problems and needs.
Julie works closely with the educators in related service lines and is frequently called upon for her knowledge by colleagues to answer questions or to partner on a new initiative. Anytime anyone on the unit is having an issue with I-Learn, RQI, or anything else education-wise, they will always say "I know, I have to call Julie." Her rapport with staff is to be applauded. The words "I can't" will never be spoken by her. She always finds a way to help staff and leadership. It doesn't matter if the issues are not directly linked to education, she helps troubleshoot and work to find solutions for the problem.
She partners with unit leadership on initiatives to improve care and outcomes. She communicates effectively and frequently to ensure everyone is in the loop and on the same page. She expresses her concerns in a manner that is well-received and heard. She goes out of her way to make herself available to everyone. She will come to the unit to "catch" staff as they are leaving for check-offs so they do not have to come to her. She makes education times available that are considerate of every shift and learning style. I can truly say that if Julie was not here, we would not be the unit we are today. She truly is so valuable to us and would be extremely difficult to replace.
