As we were going through one of the most difficult times of our lives, the realization that we only had days left with a loved one, Julie was a ray of sunshine. She was so kind and caring not only to my dad but to our entire family. She took care of all of us. The best care that we had so far. And, after four years of this battle with cancer, we needed a lot of care.
After deciding we wanted dad to live his last days at home, Julie stayed extra time to be here when we left. Yes, she could have been off sooner, but she chose to stay. And, as I was leaving to go to my car, she followed me, calling me by name. And, what she gave me is priceless, "Here is your dad's heartbeat; there is one for your mom, too". Printed. A treasure. But that is not all. A hug also. Two gifts I will never forget and treasure always.
