June Curley is the Clinician for Laser Safety. Her role is the designated Laser Safety Officer. June has been in the TGH OR since 2005. She was about to retire and because she is so amazing TGH swayed her to stay on with us and become the Clinician for Laser Safety. She has developed this position from the ground up and goes above and beyond the call of duty for her staff, us providers, keeping us all in line and making sure we are safe. She holds the hands of all my patients to make them feel comfortable and secure. She is top notch with all her policies and procedures! Not one T is ever left uncrossed. If something is broken, she has the lasers fixed or a rental one brought in before we can blink an eye.
June is a master educator for our staff, ancillary staff and is a well-desired speaker to many laser conferences including AORN. Not only is June the hardest worker I know, but her upbeat sunny personality and very calm demeanor are always in the forefront. She handles any difficult situations with ease and expertise. She has made my life as a CO2 laser operator a breeze and without major headaches. With all that is being said, June stands her ground. She never compromises patient safety regardless of the physician. Nothing gets by June, I always say. If I ever needed an operation here or some laser done to myself, I want June in my room.
June is extremely flexible, she works not only with laser but with the OB/GYN and Balloon Dilations. She is an inspiration to everyone she meets, and I think she is a very long time deserving RN for the DAISY Award!
