Professor Braun consistently adds personal anecdotes to her recorded lectures. It is so appreciated. It really helps keep me engaged while trying to learn on a virtual platform. Her teaching style always includes the consideration of populations of people that I don’t think any other professor has touched on; like children in foster care situations, adoption, and international adoption. During clinical time (and even during Zoom lecture times), she encourages students to speak up and share their related experiences on the topic.
At the mental health facility where we do clinical, she acknowledged my familial experiences with mental health issues and made sure I was comfortable in each environment we went into. She allowed me to share my experience as a child with a mentally ill mother with her and responded in a way that validated my experiences as well as expressed my resilience. She truly embodies the compassion and connectedness that both nurses and educators should strive for.
