We could not be more grateful for Kacie's care, compassion, and kindness when welcoming Vincent into the world and when we had to see him out...we are so grateful for her.
My sister, Ashley, gave birth to a 1 lb 8 oz baby boy at just 24 weeks gestation on September 13, 2024. Kacie was Ashley's nurse overnight and helped calm and prepare her to welcome a micro-preemie into the world. Kacie's shift had recently ended when Ashley was about to begin pushing. Despite us thinking she had left; Kacie came barging into the room and announced that she "wasn't leaving" and wanted to be there for Ashley to help welcome baby into the world. Fast forward to November 12, 2024 - after a two-month NICU stay, baby Vincent sadly passed away. Despite knowing his health difficulties and understanding that the NICU stay would be a roller coaster, nothing can prepare a mother to lose their child. Given how quickly his health deteriorated and it being nighttime, we were not prepared for having a photographer available. The NICU staff told us that there was a nurse that did a great job taking pictures and that she could come up and assist - in walked Kacie and we both burst into tears. She immediately embraced us with hugs, said she checked that Vincent was here every day, and comforted my sister in the most fragile moments of her life. Kacie took incredible care of Vincent, even post-mortem, handling him with care and respect. She assured Ashley she did everything she could to fight for him and that she was an amazing mother. Kacie even offered to take Vincent down to the morgue so he could have a familiar face there to see him off. She took beautiful pictures of Vincent that will forever be cherished by our family. We could not be more grateful for Kacie's care, compassion, and kindness when welcoming Vincent into the world and when we had to see him out...we are so grateful for her.
