Kacy was working with a patient who was just diagnosed with terminal cancer while in Kansas visiting. He wished to return home to his family in Chicago but was unable to because of different circumstances. Kacy worked many hours and many days calling every hospital in Chicago to try and assist with a transfer closer to home so the patient could continue to receive the care he needed while surrounded by his family. She called primary care physicians to get him set up with one so he could transfer. She spoke with many nurses, physicians, and medical staff to gain the information she needed for a safe transfer. She called to check in on the progress of the transfer throughout the day. Kacy kept in contact with the family after discharge from Stormont via email to answer any questions and be a resource for this family in their terrible circumstances. Kacy provided the family the comfort that they needed and the help that they deserved.
