I was in the ER for chest pain and had to get a CT scan performed. I came to the ER with my three-year-old daughter. I needed someone to sit with my daughter while I had the CT scan done. Kalle came in with the greatest smile on her face and immediately started talking to my daughter and trying to cheer her up as I wheeled off.

My daughter is not fond of strangers. When I returned from the scan, I could hear laughter and excitement radiating from my daughter. Kalle took the time to ask my daughter about her interests in farm animals and dinosaurs. When Kalle left the room, my daughter’s lips began to tremble in sadness because she was upset that her “new friend” had left the room. My daughter continued to talk about this sweet nurse until the following day.

Being in the ER is scary, and being a three-year-old watching your parent be wheeled off is even scarier. Kalle made my daughter feel safe and comfortable in an off-putting environment. I cannot thank her enough for being warm and soft with my baby while I underwent a quick procedure. My daughter has had to go in and out of the ER with me countless times over the last year, and no staff member has ever made her feel so comfortable. I have never seen my daughter cry over a stranger before. Kalle has a wonderful personality and made me, as a mother, feel completely comfortable leaving my daughter with her. I have never met an ER staff member who has stood out to me more than this nurse did that night.
