I have never seen his smile, but every time he smiled, he got creases around his eyes. You see his smile all the time through his eyes, and that means so much!
I got to have my favorite nurse with me at night three times! You usually do not get the privilege to know your night nurses as well because you are sleeping. He became a good friend. Not only because he is a guy like me but that did allow him to relate to me, but because he is so caring. He is required to wear a mask in my room, so I have never seen his smile, but every time he smiled, he got creases around his eyes. You see his smile all the time through his eyes, and that means so much! At night when I was sleeping, he somehow would stealth like come into my room and give me my meds and take my vitals not even waking me or my very light sleeper mother! How did he do that?! He talked with me on a personal level and found a way to relate to me. I told him about my first hunting trips this fall and showed him pictures of my deer. He showed me pictures of his deer. He stated that he was hunting at the same age as me and has gotten a deer every year since! The big highlight for me was how I got to play a video game with him. My mom wanted to leave the room to just go on a walk in the halls. He stayed in my room and played a game with me, even though he was not very good at it. It really made my stay experience that much better! I would like to nominate Kane for the DAISY Award because even though he is new at his job, you cannot tell. He is a hard worker, SO KIND, relatable, and caring! He is not only good at his job, but he loves his job! Kane, thanks for being such a great nurse and taking such good care of me!
