The high of delivering my baby in a van alongside the expressway was strange but oddly exhilarating. Twelve hours later, we were in the Neonatal ICU looking at the pieces of rubble that was once our family, engulfed in Down Syndrome. Our coping mechanisms were stretched pretty thin because our foundation was rocked with this sudden news.
Karen was there; she was a shoulder to cry on and stabilized the earth. We discovered how the little things matter when we were trying to accept our new daughter. Having my term baby out of the isolette and into a crib made such a difference. These little things are where Karen shines. For Karen, it was all about the baby. Thank you!
