From the moment she was assigned to care for me, Karen truly was one of a kind. Karen is an advocate for her patients, and the level of care she gave me made me feel like I had known her for years. Karen was encouraging throughout my stay, and always well informed of what had transpired prior to her arrival on shift. Karen took the time to know me personally and made sure my wife's and father's needs were also being met.
A specific example of how Karen moved my mountain was the following: As a sergeant with the Kootenai County Sheriff's Office, I have never been the one to call 911 since I was 911. Following a freak off-road motorcycle accident, I found myself needing not only a helicopter but several of my deputies to assist me into said helicopter. One of these deputies found himself facing a potentially life-threatening emergency several days into my care here at KH. Not only did I want to be there for him, but I also NEEDED to be there for him. Karen was able to swiftly arrange and get approval for me to go to his bedside, and I am quite certain she would have carried me down there if she had to.
Karen, thank you so much for your fabulous care, you made this process tolerable, and almost enjoyable!
