Karen has consistently demonstrated compassion for the relief of pain in her patients. On numerous occasions she has acted as her patients advocate to obtain interventions to provide comfort.

One morning a patient who has had extensive surgery reported that he had been in horrible pain, that he did not know how to treat his pain with his PCA but in the morning a wonderful nurse named Karen came in and spent a lot of time and effort to make sure that he could be comfortable. He reported that Karen lifted his spirits at a time when they were at their lowest.

Karen on so many occasions steps up to issues and goes above and beyond to seek resolution. Karen’s name is frequently mentioned in Press Ganey comments by patients that fill out the surveys. Karen exemplifies the kind of nurse that our patients, their families and our staff recognize as an outstanding role model. Karen maintains excellent patient care, professionalism and appreciation of peers and leadership in an atmosphere that is sometimes uncertain. Her strength and integrity are an example to all to move forward and work as a team.
