Karen Cohen, Nurse Case Manager, Case Management, Children’s at Scottish Rite
After 22 years of service, Karen Cohen still sets the perfect example of what a nurse should be. As a nurse in the TICU at Children’s at Scottish Rite, she constantly puts patients’ needs ahead of all else and provides the very best care possible. The patients in the TICU often require extreme attention to detail for their care to be continued when they leave the unit. Karen handles this task with first-class expertise and care. A true team player, Karen regularly interacts with the multitudes of students, externs and nurses who are new to the unit during orientation. She does it with an uncommon skill and ease. Karen’s extensive experience also brings unmatched critical thinking and leadership skills to the unit. She co-chairs the unit’s Project TICU committee and is an Epic Champion. Karen also participates in bereavement care and is supportive to patients, families and staff members throughout the process. She continually provides care as a primary nurse, and she guides her patients and their families through their time in the TICU with great care and compassion. Karen is a tremendous asset to both the TICU and Children’s.
