Our mother passed into the loving arms of heaven at OSF Saint Anthony's. During her week-long stay, we were blessed to have Karen Hert as Mom's nurse for several of those days. Karen's compassion and kindness to Mom and to each member of our family made her a friend, as well as a caregiver. Her professionalism was exemplified as she anticipated Mom's needs and made sure that Mom received the care and treatment that she deserved. Karen also made sure that we understood doctor's orders, procedures, and action she took, such as administering medications. This definitely helped us to better cope with the very difficult situation. Her positive attitude and her genuine concern are to be commended. Karen's example as a nurse is an inspiration.
