Compassion is her gift. Not only does she express this for her patients and family members every single day and every single shift, she also does this for her work family. Nunu is always the first one to offer a kind word and a warm hug when someone is having the feels or just feeling low. Nunu is the voice of reason in moments of crisis. But it's never for show and never for any other motive but kindness.
A few months ago, one of our own staff fell on real hard times. It's hard to imagine that a professional like us would almost face homelessness even when she was employed! Some of us are only truly a paycheck away from devastation. Nunu heard of this co-worker's dire circumstance and offered her a place to stay in her own home. She converted a part of her house to accommodate and create a living space for this co-worker, giving her another chance at life and the dignity to start over again. This is all done under the radar with zero fanfare. No one knows about this story. Today, this coworker is back on her feet and blooming in her new found independence.
This is real compassion. She is a true DAISY Nurse.
