My 1 year old daughter was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in September. Kari spent many hours with our family during our hospital stay training us, helping us get our supplies, and even finding coupon deals that would save us money at the pharmacy. She checked on us several times each day and made us feel comfortable embarking on this new journey living with T1D. After getting home from the hospital, my daughter had many highs and lows. The weekend immediately following our discharge, Kari talked to me on the phone every 30 minutes in the middle of the night on Saturday (while she was on vacation I might add) to make sure my daughter responded well to an unscheduled insulin dose due to a very high blood sugar. Not only did Kari make me feel comfortable that night, she checked on us the next day to see how we were doing. Kari is the definition of someone who goes above and beyond the call of duty. My husband and I feel truly blessed to have met her and will forever be grateful for the kindness she has shown to our family.
