Ms. Karice Haywood, CRNP, Hematology and Oncology Services, received an official memorandum from the Medical Center Director of the Birmingham VA Medical Center, on behalf of a Veteran and his daughter during Ms. Haywood's prior role as the RN-Oncology Navigator. The daughter of the Veteran described Ms. Haywood as "the kind of person you just want to be friends with!" The Veteran was appreciative of the support and compassion that was given to him by Ms. Haywood. During the ceremony, Mr. Smith expressed a sense of gratitude and thankfulness knowing that Ms. Haywood's actions reflect the caring and compassion we (the Birmingham VA Medical Center) strive to achieve in delivering services to Veterans.
