I would like everyone to know what a great nurse Karla Deering is. Not only on this day, but there have been many times when Karla has been so helpful. This particular day, Karla was floated to 5B. I had been having a busy day, but at 6:15p, I got a call that my patient was having chest pain and was short of breath. I was next door trying to unclog a tube. When I got to the room, a PCA was already getting an EKG on the patient. It showed the patient was in afib with RVR and possible infarct. Karla came down to the room when seeing all of the commotion going on. She asked what I needed, and at the time, I didn't know. She immediately went and got a travel monitor from the PCU. She stepped up and asked for orders from the doctor. She drew labs for me, and helped get the patient back in bed from the chair. I can remember her saying, "Ok, let's get her in bed. Who is strong? Because I am!" And, I couldn't agree more. She really stepped up, and stayed in the room with me getting all of the orders completed before we transferred the patient to PCU. This was at shift change, and not once did she leave my side. I really appreciated her this day, as well as others. She is a wonderful nurse.
