My husband was admitted after having a Terp procedure. Kasey was his 7p-7a nurse. Ray's stomach was becoming very tight and he was in a lot of pain. Dr W had been in twice to see him after the procedure. Ray was also becoming very short of breath and his pain meds were not helping. Approximately 9pm, Kasey called for a Rapid Response Team (RRT) member to come observe him. Kasey felt she had tried everything she could to make him comfortable and became worried about him. Within thirty minutes, Kasey and the RRT nurse had a plan of action which included x-rays of chest and abdomen, blood work and Respiratory Therapy. Kasey called Dr W to come back. She stayed with the Dr. while he reinserted the cath and flushed the tubes. She was very helpful to the Dr. After this procedure he got some relief with 1,000cc being removed from him.

I truly feel Ray would have possibly not survived without Kasey's attention and the actions she took. He was definitely going into CHF. I nominate her for this award because I feel she saved my husband's life. Without her concern for my husband and quick thinking, he might not have survived. I am very thankful for this nurse.
