She was supportive, took the time to listen to us, went well above and beyond the standard of care, and kept me going and in a positive mindset at times I was mentally and physically exhausted.
My son was born in November after being induced at 38 weeks. To say Kate Flemming was amazing throughout my labor is an understatement. Through my induction, active labor and birth of my son, she was our nurse and both myself and my husband were so impressed with her. She was supportive, took the time to listen to us, went well above and beyond the standard of care, and kept me going and in a positive mindset at times I was mentally and physically exhausted. There was a moment when I was getting my epidural where I said out loud "I don't think I can do this'' and she was in my ear reminding me to stay positive and that I was doing great. She is obviously someone who loves her job and excels at what she does. She was meant to be a labor and delivery nurse. Not only was she compassionate but she was also incredibly knowledgeable and always answered questions thoughtfully and thoroughly. Not to mention she handled my husband's humor beautifully, which is a challenge for some! SVMC is more than lucky to have her on staff at women's and children's and I hope she never leaves. After two days she feels like a part of our family, and my husband and I have talked non stop since meeting her about how amazing she is. We even got to see her briefly when we came back for a weight check for our son and we both hugged her and made a point to let her know how incredible we think she is. Any mom bringing a baby in the world would be more than lucky to have her handling their care.
